Glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto's herbicide, Roundup, has made headlines over the past decade regarding its link to cancer. Now, even big box corporations are getting the message that the consumer does not want to support companies that sell known carcinogens such as Roundup. Now the wholesale store, Costco, has vowed to stop selling all herbicides that contain glyphosate. Earlier this year, activists collected over 150,000 signatures asking Lowes, Home Depot, and Costco to stop selling the carcinogenic product. Costco was the first to respond. Headquarters confirmed that glyphosate-based herbicides will not be restocked this spring. Costco has made headlines before when farmed, genetically-modified salmon was going to be marketed across the country without any type of labeling. Costco vowed not to stock the frankenfish. Perhaps this corporation genuinely cares about not contributing to the release of known carcinogens across the land that our children are exposed to. Or maybe it's a great PR move. A study examined the effects of chiropractic care regarding blood pressure and the state of anxiety in 21 patients with elevated blood pressure. These people were randomly assigned to one of three groups (controls): active chiropractic care, placebo care (similar, but no correction of subluxations-misalignment of vertebrae which causes less nerve function to a specific area of the body), or no chiropractic care. The study measured pre- and post-adjustments which included systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and the level of each person's state of anxiety. Results indicated that systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased significantly in the active chiropractic adjustment group, whereas no significant changes occurred in the placebo and control groups. The state of anxiety also significantly decreased in the active chiropractic care group.
