Testing found that 100% of oat cereal samples were positive for residues of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicide. Residues of glyphosate and pesticides (neonicotinoids and organophosphates) were also found, with glyphosate being detected in 100% of oat cereal and pinto bean samples tested. More than 90% of corn and soy grown in the U.S. is genetically engineered, and these ingredients are common in processed foods. Oats are a common source of glyphosate residues because the chemical is used as a desiccant on many non-GMO crops. In northern, colder regions farmers of wheat, oats and barley must wait for their crops to dry out prior to harvest. Rather than wait an additional two weeks or so for this to happen naturally, farmers spray the plants with glyphosate, killing the crops and accelerating their drying (a process known as desiccating). 0.1 ppm (part per million) limit for glyphosate on oats was the legal limit in 1993. It has since been raised 300fold. If you're concerned about glyphosate residues in your food, you can help to prompt change by letting the companies that make your food know that you prefer foods without glyphosate residues and are prepared to switch brands if necessary to find them. healthimpactnews.com

Diet Tip: Carry healthy foods with you at all times: If you carry a purse or a backpack, throw an apple or some raw nuts in there. It's pretty easy to find yourself in situations where you're hungry and it seems like you just have no choice but a donut or cheeseburger. You don't have that excuse if there's a snack in your pack. Here are some ideas: Fresh fruit (apples, plums, pears, and stone fruit travel well!); Dried fruit; Raw nuts; Whole-grain crackers. beachbodyondemand.com

Chiropractic and Autism Spectrum Disorder: Research in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health shows chiropractic reporting on improvement in a 3-year-old with Pervasive Developmental Disorder. Dr. Morgan Handt, author of the paper stated, "Basic science research shows that the proper development of the brain relies heavily on proper structure and movement of the spine from an early age." The child in the study was also being seen by a speech pathologist, developmental pediatrician, an occupational therapist, and an applied behavioral analyst. The boy had vertebral subluxations (misalignments) in his upper neck and sacrum. During 5 months of chiropractic care and dietary modifications the patient responded well to chiropractic care. He started going to school again with teachers remarking that there was improvement in his abilities. He was making friends, had become interactive, was less defiant, and was an overall happier child. Who do you know that could benefit from chiropractic care? chiropractic.prosepoint.net
