When dealing with stressful situations, consider this: Nothing and no one can "make" you feel anything. How you feel and the way you deal with a situation is a choice. Remember… no one can drive your car unless you give them the keys. You cannot control others' actions, but you can be responsible for your reactions. The serenity prayer states, "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." Knowing and applying this can be a great stress reliever. psychcentral.com

Researchers found, through a number of studies, that childhood mumps might protect against ovarian cancer. Through various health agencies, the obtained serum samples from 161 cases with mumps and looked at 194 healthy controls (women that did not have childhood mumps). They also conducted a meta-analysis of all published studies regarding mumps and ovarian cancer. Adjusting for the groups regarding various factors, age, and sex, the level of (cancer-fighting) antibodies was significantly higher in mumps cases compared to the control group. Free circulating levels of (cancer antigen) CA 125 were also higher in the mumps cases. From the meta-analysis, the researchers found that mumps may lead to better immunity against ovarian cancer cells. Now ask yourself this: isn't it better for kids to get childhood diseases while their young and build natural immunity than to rely on vaccines that may have potentially negative consequences? ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

Diet Tip: Pay attention to the signals for hunger before you eat. It's like checking your fuel gauge before getting off the highway for gas. If you're ever unsure whether you're truly hungry (and know you're not totally famished) try to address other issues before you nosh. Step outside for a walk around the block when stressed, lie down for a 20-min. power nap if you're tired, or down a glass of water to try and eliminate lingering thirst. womenshealthmag.com

When looking at the data from the Spanish Flu of 1918, we discussed a few issues ago about how much better the patients of chiropractors in Davenport, Iowa were (home of the very first chiropractic school) than those treated by medical doctors in the same town. Now here's data from outside of Davenport: Chiropractors in Iowa cared for 4,735 cases with only six deaths (one out of 866). During the same epidemic, in Oklahoma, out of 3,490 flu patients under chiropractic care, there were only seven deaths. Chiropractors were also called to help in 233 cases that were given up as lost after medical treatment and reportedly saved all but 25. In another report covering 4,193 cases by 213 chiropractors, 4,104 showed complete recovery. These results are part of the proven, critical link between the body's central nervous system and the immune system. Who do you know that could benefit from chiropractic care? circleofdocs.com
