Break the monotony: "When each day is the same as the next, it's because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises." Gratitude is the practice of finding the good in each day. There's always a silver lining, if you look for it. Paulo Coelhopaulocoelhoblog.com

Researchers are finding that these five herbs and spices that you can add to your diet may turn ordinary meals into nutrient-dense "supermeals": Studies show that garlic may also prevent neurodegenerative disease progression in diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's and motor neuron diseases. Ginger is well-known for its gastrointestinal benefits and is widely used as a natural remedy for stomach-ache, nausea, vomiting, belching, diarrhea and other gastric ailments, including irritable bowel syndrome. Curcumin has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and is a potential treatment for inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, arthritis and breast and prostate cancers. Curcumin also may reduce the risk or delay the development of Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, prion diseases, Down syndrome and autism. Capsaicin, found in chili peppers, is known for promoting vascular health, as well as improving metabolic syndrome, diabetes, obesity and stroke risk. Saffron has beneficial effects on gastrointestinal diseases, the gut microbiome, the stomach, hepatitis, colitis and cancer, among other disorders. By sprinkling these spices on your roasted vegetables, adding to smoothies or shakes, or including them in your marinades and dressings, you can drastically increase the nutritional content of your everyday meals. healthimpactnews.com

On Sept. 18, 1895 in Davenport, Iowa, after seeing patients as a successful magnetic healer Daniel David Palmer asked his janitor, Harvey Lillard, how he had lost his hearing. Lillard related that 17 years earlier, while working in a cramped, stooped position, something "gave" in his back, and he became deaf. Palmer examined the man's spine and found what appeared to be a misaligned vertebra. With Lillard's permission Palmer placed him on a bench in his study, put his hands over the misaligned vertebra, and carefully thrust along the man's spine. Lillard got up, walked to the open window and turned to Palmer with a smile. After 17 years he could hear again. At first Palmer thought he had discovered a cure for deafness but later realized he had discovered something more. Shortly after this, Palmer had a case of heart trouble which was not improving. He examined the spine and found a displaced vertebra pressing against the nerves which innervate the heart. The "adjustment" gave immediate relief. Then, people with all kinds of health problems began responding to spinal adjustments. People with every conceivable condition were traveling far and wide to experience Dr. Palmer's new discovery. French researchers found that a flavanoid called phloridzin that is found only in apples may protect post-menopausal women from osteoporosis and may also increase bone density. Boron, another ingredient in apples, also strengthens bones. And the pectin in apples lowers LDL ("bad") cholesterol. People who eat two apples per day may lower their cholesterol by as much as 16%! healthdiaries.com
