"You can get to where you want to be from wherever you are, but you must stop spending so much time noticing and talking about what you do not like about where you are." ~Esther Hicks everydaypowerblog.com

Reports of COVID breakthrough cases among fully vaccinated people continue to rise - as of June 28, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports 4,686 breakthrough cases resulting in death and hospitalization. Nearly 30 people in Louisiana who were fully vaccinated against COVID died from the virus, according to the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH). Dr. Joseph Kanter, LDH state health officer and medical director, said 27 people between the ages of 28 and 93 died with COVID more than two weeks after being fully vaccinated. "These are people who died from COVID, from complications of COVID, despite being vaccinated because the vaccine is not 100% [effective] and people with weakened immune systems, people who are a little bit older, and some people for reasons we don't really understand, might not mount a full immune response to the vaccine," he said. According to the LDH, 1,563 breakthrough cases have been reported. As of June 7, 94 fully vaccinated people were hospitalized statewide with COVID-like symptoms. childrenshealthdefense.org

Diet Tip: Put less food out and you'll take less in. Conversely, the more food in front of you, the more you'll eat (regardless of how hungry you are). Instead of using regular dinner plates (10-14" across) that look empty if they're not heaped with food, serve your main course on salad plates (about 7 to 9" wide). Instead of 16-ounce glasses and oversized coffee mugs, return to the old days of 8-ounce glasses and 6-ounce coffee cups. rd.com

Figs have the distinction of being one of the healthiest of all fruits. Research shows that figs have specific anti-cancer properties. They're known to be a medicinal food. Figs are high in fiber. This may help protect against colon cancer because insoluble fiber (the kind that is not digested) adds bulk to stools, thus moving the waste through the gastrointestinal tract more swiftly and efficiently. Fiber also discourages the growth of harmful bacteria and encourages the growth of healthy bacteria. Fig extracts have proven toxic to melanoma, breast, stomach, throat, bone, brain, and liver cancers in the studies. thetruthaboutcancer.com
