Want to spread kindness? Put yourself in the other person's shoes. It's easy to resort to unkindness when you see things just from your perspective. Two questions that may help to see other viewpoints are: 1) How would I think and feel if I were in his or her shoes? 2) What parts of this person can I see in myself? positivityblog.com

Before you buy, read your labels! Synthetic dyes used as colorants in many common foods and drinks can negatively affect attention and activity in children, according to a comprehensive review of existing evidence published this month by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA). The new report involved a literature review, scientific symposium for experts, peer review process and public comment period. Its conclusions about the behavioral effects of food dyes are grounded in the results of 27 clinical trials in children performed on four continents over the last 45 years, as well as animal studies and research into the mechanisms through which dyes exert their behavioral effects. Food dyes in products such as breakfast cereals, juice and soft drinks, frozen dairy desserts, candies and icings were linked to adverse neurobehavioral outcomes in children including inattentiveness, hyperactivity and restlessness. Animal studies also revealed effects on activity, memory and learning. childrenshealthdefense.org

This study was published in the Journal of Chiropractic Research. 200 pediatricians and 200 chiropractors were selected and surveyed to determine what, if any, differences were to be found in the health status of their respective children as raised under the different health care models. The researchers found that there is a "definite correlation between chiropractic care and superior health." In fact, this study showed that children raised under chiropractic care are less prone to infectious processes such as otitis media and tonsillitis, and that their immune systems are better able to cope with allergens such as pollen, weeds, grasses, etc. compared to children raised under allopathic (medical) care. There is also a significant decreased history of antibiotic use among the 'Chiropractic' children, indicating a lower susceptibility to bacterial infections as a result of their greater immune system response. 69% of the chiropractic children never experienced otitis media, compared to 80% of medical children who did. In addition to supplying heart healthy potassium, vitamin C and copper, honeydew melons are also a good source of several B vitamins, including thiamine and niacin. B vitamins help your body get rid of toxins that can cause illness and disease. B vitamins may also reduce your risk of heart disease and Alzheimer's disease. livestrong.com
