When dealing with stressful situations, consider this: How you feel and the way you deal with a situation is a choice. No one can drive your car unless you give them the keys. You cannot control others' actions, but you can be responsible for your reactions. The serenity prayer states, "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." Knowing and applying this can be a great stress reliever. psychcentral.com

A recent study published in the June 29, '21, issue of JAMA Cardiology Journal shows that previously healthy male soldiers were experiencing "acute onset of marked chest pain" within four days of receiving their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Both Moderna's and Pfizer's mRNA vaccines were involved. The patients were diagnosed with clinical myocarditis. Even so, the journal article says that, set against a "backdrop of 2.8 million doses" administered, and despite the fact that myocarditis is connected to infection with COVID-19, the disorder is still "not clearly recognized as a possible adverse event" following the vaccination. The takeaway, the journal says, is that "Vigilance for rare adverse events, including myocarditis, after COVID-19 vaccination is warranted but should not diminish overall confidence in vaccination during the current pandemic." If one of those young men were related to you, would it still be considered a rare occurrence in your eyes? We should all have a choice and safety studies should continue! jamanetwork.com

Diet Tip: Don't buy prepared food that lists sugar, fructose, or corn syrup among the first 4 ingredients on the label. If you can, grab a piece of fruit instead! Also, avoid partially hydrogenated foods, and look for more than 2 grams of fiber per 100 calories in all grain products. rd.com

Chiropractic Boosts Antioxidants! Researchers looked at 23 subjects ranging in age from 26 to 50 who suffered with chronic pain in their backs or necks. Each subject received chiropractic adjustments twice a week for a period of five weeks to see what effect, if any, this type of care had on the subjects' antioxidant activity. Blood samples were taken both before and after the chiropractic sessions. The participants were checked for three specific antioxidant levels: superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase (GPx). All three of these are known to provide protection to your cells against free radicals which can cause oxidation of cells (like rust on metal). Researchers discovered that while the participant's levels of activity of the antioxidant catalase didn't change after just over a month of chiropractic care, the activity levels of both SOD and GPx did. This suggests that undergoing regular chiropractic care can boost the function of antioxidants in your body, thus providing you greater protection from major medical conditions and issues. It's not about your back… it's about your health! chironexus.net

Cinnamon is a powerful spice that has been used medicinally around the world for thousands of years. As little as 1/2 of one teaspoon of cinnamon daily can have positive effects on blood sugar levels, digestion, immunity, and more. Stronger doses are also extremely beneficial for improving heart disease risk and cutting risk for diabetes, cancer, and neuro-degenerative diseases. healthline.com
