When dealing with stressful situations, consider this: How you feel and the way you deal with a situation is a choice. No one can drive your car unless you give them the keys. You cannot control others’ actions, but you can be responsible for your reactions. The serenity prayer states, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” Knowing and applying this can be a great stress reliever.

More than 37 million Americans have diabetes, with around 90-95% having type 2 diabetes. Patients achieved complete diabetes remission after an intermittent fasting diet intervention, according to a new research study. Complete diabetes remission is defined as an HbA1c (average blood sugar) level of less than 6.5% at least one year after stopping diabetes medication. Studies have found that intermittent fasting can lower your risk of heart disease and diabetes. Other research has found that these diets can be effective for weight loss and can help fight inflammation. The scientists conducted a 3-month intermittent fasting diet intervention among 36 people with diabetes and found that nearly 90% of participants (including those who took blood sugar-lowering agents and insulin) reduced their diabetes medication intake after intermittent fasting. 55% of these people experienced diabetes remission, discontinued their diabetes medication, and maintained it for at least one year.

Exercise can make you live longer and keep you from getting depressed, and can help with preventing and reverse skin aging in people over 40. A study used a group of sedentary subjects over the age of 65 and found that after three months of regular, vigorous exercise, their skin samples of the subjects' skin more closely resembled that of a 20 to 40-yr-old than someone in their 60s.

This chiropractic study is about a 35-yr old male with a history of repetitive sports injuries who sought chiropractic care for extreme neck pain and stiffness, pins and needles into his left shoulder, low back pain and difficulty sleeping. He also had a long history of chronic headaches and migraines. This man chose to seek a chiropractor that corrects subluxations (spinal misalignments) and received chiropractic care for eight weeks to correct his findings. He then continued with supportive care for an additional three months when a follow-up assessment was undertaken. Not only were his initial symptoms severely decreased, he also experienced improved physical, social and psychological functioning and decreased disability. There were also improved changes in cervical curve and reduction of forward head posture. Who do you know that could benefit from chiropractic care?

Papayas are rich sources of antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid, as well as potassium, copper, and magnesium, and fiber. Together, these nutrients promote the health of the cardiovascular system and also provide protection against colon cancer. Papaya also contains the digestive enzyme, papain, which is used like bromelain, a similar enzyme found in pineapple, to treat sports injuries, other causes of trauma, and allergies.
