Developing a victim's mentality when things don't work out in our favor is extremely easy. Refuse to view yourself as a victim when life throws you curve balls or when you encounter injustices. You have the ability to turn your "messes" into messages and use them as catalysts for self-improvement and change. Don't allow setbacks or misfortunes to hold you back. Learn to bounce back from them stronger and more determined no matter how you might temporarily feel. everydaypowerblog.com

Your laundry detergent may not be as safe as you thought. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) reviewed 269 high-efficiency laundry detergents and found that over 60% couldn't score above a D and 36% of them actually received a failing F. When EWG reviewed 434 GP laundry detergents, more than 65% of scored a D or worse, with 37.6% getting an F. There are brands that have multiple products, some of which received A-grades so make sure you check the grades of their individual laundry detergents because you could have one of the safe ones. Here are some "F" rated laundry detergents: Ajax, All, Arm & Hammer, Boulder Clean, Cheer, Dreft, Era, Fab Ultra, Gain, Kirkland, Persil, Tide. Don't be fooled by some "natural" and "organic" brands either. You might want to skip the fabric softeners as well. In addition to even more fragrances, they can also contain quats (quaternary ammonium compounds) as well as artificial colors and preservatives that have been linked to skin allergies, difficulty breathing, reproductive problems, and even cancer. Visit EWG's website at www.ewg.org for a full list of reviewed products and their grades. realfarmacy.com

Chiropractic care can save you $$$... A recent study of 12,036 records in the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) investigated the costs of treating patients with low back and neck pain. The study estimated the costs for care among complementary and alternative medicine known as CAM (chiropractic, homeopathy, herbalism, acupuncture, and massage) for users relative to non-users. This study included a chiropractic-specific analysis of costs for chiropractic users versus non-users, as approximately 75% of all CAM services that were rendered by doctors of chiropractic. The analysis demonstrated that seeing a CAM/chiropractic provider did not add to overall medical spending. In fact, adjusted annual healthcare costs among chiropractic users were $424 lower for spine-related costs when compared to non-CAM users. Additionally, those who used complementary and alternative providers, including doctors of chiropractic, had significantly lower hospitalization costs. Brussels sprouts can provide you with some special cholesterol-lowering benefits if you use a steaming method when cooking them. The fiber-related components in Brussels sprouts do a better job of binding together with bile acids in your digestive tract when they've been steamed. When this binding process takes place, it's easier for bile acids to be excreted, and the result is a lowering of your cholesterol levels. whfoods.com
