A company called Oxitec has received an experimental use permit from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to release genetically modified (GM) mosquitos into the wild. This would be the first time that such an experiment was attempted within the borders of the US, and the permit would allow for the release of millions of GM mosquitos each week over the next two years. Even though these mosquitos can easily travel across borders, they are likely only being deployed in Texas and Florida for now, because the company needs approval from each state as well as federal EPA approval. A previously planned release in the Florida Keys of an earlier version of Oxitec's GM mosquito was canceled in 2016 after push back from local residents about the potential dangers. The plan is that these genetically modified male mosquitos will mate with wild females, and their genetics will cause the children to die, and should cause a collapse of the wild population. But there is growing concern among scientists that this technology may not be ready for deployment, and that the risks have not been studied thoroughly enough. Researchers are entirely unaware of what type of allergic reactions these insects may cause if they interact with people. anewspost.com

Take smaller sips and bites to trick your brain into eating 30% fewer calories. Studies find that when you take nibbles, chew your food longer and eat slower, your brain thinks you've eaten more. So nibble, don't gobble. By taking smaller bites and chewing more, you'll naturally eat less, saving around 143 calories per serving. eatingwell.com

In a study published in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal, & Family Health Chiropractic, it was shown that chiropractic care may help resolve fecal incontinence following regular chiropractic adjustments. An 8-year-old female with pelvic (hips) unleveling and a history of irregular bowel movements presented to a chiropractic clinic with signs of spinal misalignments (vertebral subluxations). Previous attempts of altered potty training habits and stool softeners were unsuccessful in regulating her bowel movements. The girl received subluxation based chiropractic care and improvements began after two weeks of care. After six weeks of care the fecal incontinence was resolved, with the patient having no accidents for the first time in her life. While there is limited research on the effect of chiropractic care on these types of cases, studies, including this one, have shown that chiropractic adjustments may have a positive effect on the outcomes. Who do you know that could benefit from Chiropractic care? vertebralsubluxationresearch.com
