Some of us have emerged from the most painful circumstances with strong insights about who we are and what we want. Our mistakes? Necessary. Our frustrations, failures, and sometimes stumbling attempts at growth and progress? Necessary too. Each step of the way, we learned. We went through exactly the experiences we need to; to become who we are today. Each step of the way, we progressed. Is our past a mistake? No.

Last week we wrote about the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) Dirty Dozen (The top 12 fruits and veggies that have the highest amounts of pesticides so it’s best to buy them organically). This week, we focus on the “Clean 15” list, also from the EWG, which identifies the non-organic produce least likely to be contaminated with pesticide levels. Try choosing and growing organic, but if you’re on a budget or your selection is limited, these lists help you focus your attention on avoiding the most contaminated fruits and veggies. Here is the 2023 Clean 15 List:  Avocados, Sweet Corn*, Pineapples, Onions, Papayas*, Sweet Peas (frozen), Eggplant, Asparagus, Honeydew Melon, Kiwi, Cabbage, Mushrooms, Mangoes, Sweet Potatoes, Watermelon, Carrots. *A small amount of sweet corn, papaya and summer squash sold in the United States is produced from genetically modified seeds. Buy organic varieties of these crops if you want to avoid genetically modified produce.

Strength training can help you build lean muscle mass and rev up your metabolism, which starts to slow down once you hit your 30s. The more muscle you have, the less fat you have since your metabolism runs higher and a higher metabolism leads to more calories burned and more fat lost.

Since its inception, Chiropractic has asserted that viruses and microbes don't threaten us all equally and that a healthy immune system easily repels most invaders. The immune system protects us from the flu, as well as any other infectious disease, and strives to get us well again when we do fall ill. Our immune system, like every other system in the body, is coordinated and controlled by the nervous system. Chiropractors are also aware of the importance of positive health life style practices (rest, drinking ample quantities of water, exercise, proper diet, taking extra vitamins and minerals, and stress reduction approaches). All these factors can also positively influence the nervous system and immune response. So make sure your nerve system is free of interferences (subluxations), adopt a healthy lifestyle, and your immune system will stay strong!
