Plants may absorb more CO2 than we thought. As the UN warned that the world is on track to warm by more than 3C without aggressive climate action, there was a slither of good news. According to modelling by Australian scientists, plants could absorb more of our emissions than previously thought. “Plants take up a substantial amount of CO2 every year, thereby slowing down the detrimental effects of climate change, but the extent to which they will continue this CO2 uptake into the future has been uncertain,” said lead researcher Dr Jürgen Knauer from Hawkesbury Inst. for the Environment at Sydney. Knauer said that most existing models “ignored the three critical physiological mechanisms associated with photosynthesis” and that his team’s more complex modelling “projected stronger increases of vegetation carbon uptake globally”. His research accounted for factors such as how efficiently CO2 moves through leaves, how plants adjust to temperature changes, and how plants distribute nutrients.

Tidbit #3: Holiday Diet Tip

Focus on the Company… It’s easy to get swept up in all of the food at a holiday event. Instead of making food the center of your day, focus on visiting with friends and family. Take time to make conversation between bites. You’ll eat less and enjoy your visit more. When the holiday season draws to a close for another year, you’re more likely to remember the time spent with loved ones than the meals themselves

Flu Prevention Plan Should Include Chiropractic! People of all ages are encouraged to add chiropractic to their strategy for warding off and fighting the flu and its effects… swine flu or otherwise. Spinal adjustments can have a positive effect on immune function. A growing number of researchers are exploring the common denominators in disease processes, and the role of the nervous, immune, and hormonal systems in development of immune related illnesses. Chiropractic corrects spinal abnormalities called vertebral subluxations that result in interference to the nervous system. Since the nervous system controls all functions of the body (including the immune system) chiropractic care can have a positive effect on immune function.
