"If you want to be happy, make someone else happy. If you want to find the right person in your life, be the right person. If you want to see change in the world, become the change you want to see."

Scientists looking to tackle our ongoing obesity crisis have made an important discovery: Intermittent calorie restriction leads to significant changes both in the gut and the brain, which may open up new options for maintaining a healthy weight. Researchers studied 25 volunteers classed as obese over a period of 62 days, during which they took part in an intermittent energy restriction (IER) program (a regime that involves careful control of calorie intake and relative fasting on some days). The participants in the study not only lost weight (16.8 lbs or 7.8% of their body weight on average), there was also evidence of shifts in the activity of obesity-related regions of the brain, and in the make-up of gut bacteria. The changes in the gut microbiome and in the activity in addiction-related brain regions during and after weight loss are highly dynamic. It's not clear what causes these changes, or whether the gut is influencing the brain or vice versa. But we do know that the gut and the brain are closely linked.

Cranky? Get moving. Exercise makes you feel happier. When you work out, your body makes endorphins -- "feel-good" chemicals in the brain. You can actually start to feel better within a few minutes of moving. But the effects of regular exercise can last for a long time.

This chiropractic study is about a 35-yr old male with a history of repetitive sports injuries who sought chiropractic care for extreme neck pain and stiffness, pins and needles into his left shoulder, low back pain and difficulty sleeping. He also had a long history of chronic headaches and migraines. This man chose to seek a chiropractor that corrects subluxations (spinal misalignments) and received chiropractic care for eight weeks to correct his findings. He then continued with supportive care for an additional three months when a follow-up assessment was undertaken. Not only were his initial symptoms severely decreased, he also experienced improved physical, social and psychological functioning and decreased disability. There were also improved changes in cervical curve and reduction of forward head posture. Who do you know that could benefit from chiropractic care?
