Feeling over-stressed? Wrangle the Clutter! If you’re feeling scattered, it could be because clutter has taken over. Sort the files on your computer desktop. If you’re not at work, do a five-minute refresh of whatever space you’re in for a new outlook. Maybe that just means making the bed. greatist.com

European Parliament reps and the Belgian EU recently put a ban on the use of dental amalgam (‘silver fillings’ in the mouth) starting the beginning of next year (2025). Current rules forbid the use of amalgam for treating children under 15 years old and pregnant or breastfeeding women. This prohibition will be extended to every EU citizen once the political deal is formally approved by the Parliament and EU ministers in the coming weeks. Some limited exceptions to this ban will continue where deemed strictly necessary by dentists. This is an important step towards a mercury-free future. Amalgam in the future will only be used in medically necessary cases. Many people don’t know that dental amalgam is elemental mercury (a type of heavy metal) bound with other metals such as silver, tin, copper, and zinc and is commonly used to fill teeth. The mercury vapors can leach from these fillings for many years in the mouth. Cremated corpses containing such fillings emit mercury from crematoria.

Want to squeeze in some exercise? Squat while you brush your teeth. It may sound (and will definitely look) funny, but it’s effective for many reasons: Squatting while brushing will give you a tighter tush, and you’ll have cleaner teeth for longer. Save water by turning it off while brushing, and build stronger glutes in the process.

Researchers at the RAND Corporation performed an analysis of an insurance database, comparing persons receiving chiropractic care with non-chiropractic patients. The study consisted of senior citizens older than 75 years of age. Recipients of chiropractic care reported better overall health, spent fewer days in hospitals and nursing homes, used fewer prescription drugs, and were more active than the non-chiropractic patients. These are the statistics: Those under chiropractic care (1st number) compared to those who were not (2nd number). The seniors under regular chiropractic care were: Free from the use of a nursing home-95.7% vs 80.8%; Free from hospitalizations for the past 23 years -73.9% vs 52.4%; The chiropractic group was also more likely to report a better health status, more likely to exercise vigorously, and more likely to be mobile in the community - 69.6% vs 46.8%. Although it is impossible to clearly establish causality, it is also reasonably clear that continuing chiropractic care is among the attributes of patients experiencing substantially fewer costly healthcare interventions.
