Tidbit #1: Feeling Down?

Do something (anything) kind for someone else. Being kind is one small step to get out of the hole that you find yourself in. Kindness actually releases natural chemicals in our bodies that can increase energy and improve moods. Focusing outside of yourself empowers you to take control and ultimately to feel better about your life.

Recently the viral product known as the 40-ounce Stanley Quencher tumbler has been found to contain lead, a toxic heavy metal that can cause a variety of health problems, particularly in children and pregnant women. Stanley’s vacuum insulation process uses “an industry standard pellet to seal the vacuum insulation at the base of our products,” according to a statement on its website. The sealing material, it said, “includes some lead.” Once sealed, the area containing lead is covered with stainless steel, making it inaccessible to consumers. Lead is not present “on the surface of any Stanley product that comes into contact with the consumer nor the contents of the product,” the statement added. There are lawsuits now alleging that if the tumblers are damaged or worn out from washing and use over time, the vacuum seal could break and expose the user to lead.

A study published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation (JVSR), showed that chiropractic care can reduce oxidative stress in the body. Oxidative stress is the damage that occurs when free radicals outnumber the body’s antioxidants. 76 individuals participated in the study including a group which received short-term chiropractic care, a second group which received long-term chiropractic care, and a group which received no chiropractic care. Individuals were qualified for age, sex, and nutritional supplements. Results showed that healthy individuals that received chiropractic care for two or more years had higher serum thiol levels than those with disease. In fact, some of the patients receiving chiropractic adjustments had serum thiol levels much higher than what is understood as normal. Thiols are sulfur containing compounds in the body that act as antioxidants. They react with free radicals to neutralize them. Who do you know that could benefit from chiropractic care?

"Great spirits have always encountered opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly."
