Developing a victim's mentality when things don't work out in our favor is extremely easy. Refuse to view yourself as a victim when life throws you curve balls or when you encounter injustices. You have the ability to turn your "messes" into messages and use them as catalysts for self-improvement and change. Don't allow setbacks or misfortunes to hold you back. Learn to bounce back from them stronger and more determined no matter how you might temporarily feel. everydaypowerblog.com

Researchers from the Univ. of Houston, along with others, have designed a "catch and kill" air filter that can trap the virus responsible for COVID-19, killing it instantly. The research paper was published in Materials Today Physics. The researchers reported that virus tests at the Galveston Nat'l Laboratory found 99.8% of the novel SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) was killed in a single pass through a filter made from commercially available nickel foam heated to 200 degrees Centigrade, or about 392 degrees Fahrenheit. It also killed 99.9% of the anthrax spores in testing at the national lab, which is run by the Univ. of Texas Medical Branch. "This filter could be useful in airports and in airplanes, in office buildings, schools and cruise ships to stop the spread of COVID-19," said Ren, MD Anderson Chair Professor of Physics at UH and co-corresponding author for the paper. "Its ability to help control the spread of the virus could be very useful for society." Medistar executives are also proposing a desk-top model, capable of purifying the air in an office worker's immediate surroundings, he said. sciencedaily.com

Some of the most common chronic respiratory diseases include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the arteries connecting the heart and lungs). Though some of these conditions can be genetic, lifestyle plays a role as well (reduce cigarette smoke exposure, air pollution, and chemicals found in work/home environments). One study discovered that another way to keep your lungs breathing easier is with regular chiropractic visits. A study involved 30 subjects, ages 20 - 38, who had no respiratory issues and no pain in their thoracic region. Half received chiropractic adjustments and half received 'sham' placebo treatments instead. Researchers found the chiropractic group had "significantly increased" their forced air capacity and forced expiratory volume. The group that received the sham treatments experienced no difference in their respiratory function at all. This may be helpful to patients who have chronic respiratory issues and are looking for relief, but it may also work to reduce the likelihood of lung-related diseases in the first place. chironexus.net
