Tidbit #1:

When stressed, lost in a problem in the past or future in your mind, breathe with your belly for two minutes and just focus on the air going in and out. This will calm your body down and bring your mind back into the present moment again.

It’s okay to enjoy sugary treats in moderation, but if you can’t go a day without a sugary substance, you may be addicted. Sugar triggers a response in our brains and dopamine (the feel-good neurotransmitter) is released. It also plays a response in those using cocaine or heroin. We want to continue this feeling, so we reach for more sugary items. But when we stop, we can go into withdrawal. Here are things to look for to see if you’re addicted to sugar: You eat to satisfy a craving even if you aren’t hungry; You become tired or sluggish after eating; You eat to negate negative emotions; It worries you to cut down on certain foods. Ways to Cut Down on Sugar: Cut down on the amount of sugar you add to food items such as coffee or tea; Recognize sugar on the label that goes by many names including sucrose, fructose, corn syrup, etc.; Stick with fruits when you’re craving something sweet; Different spices can replace sugar and even make food taste better. If you feel your sugar addiction is a result of emotional distress, seek out therapy to help you cope.

Tidbit #3: Diet Tip

If you’re hungry, eat veggies. This is one of the fundamental rules for weight loss in a hurry. They’re a great source of vitamins and minerals, contain tons of fiber, and they also act as a natural diuretic.

Researchers at the RAND Corporation performed an analysis of an insurance database, comparing persons receiving chiropractic care with non-chiropractic patients. The study consisted of senior citizens older than 75 years of age. Recipients of chiropractic care reported better overall health, spent fewer days in hospitals and nursing homes, used fewer prescription drugs, and were more active than the non-chiropractic patients. These are the statistics of patients who were under chiropractic care (1st number) compared to those who were not (2nd number). The individuals under continuing chiropractic care were: Free from the use of a nursing home-95.7% vs 80.8%; Free from hospitalizations for the past 23 years -73.9% vs 52.4%; The chiropractic group was also more likely to report a better health status, more likely to exercise vigorously, and more likely to be mobile in the community - 69.6% vs 46.8%. Although it is impossible to clearly establish causality, it is also reasonably clear that continuing chiropractic care is among the attributes of patients experiencing substantially fewer costly healthcare interventions.

Artichokes are packed with vitamins A, C, K, along with potassium, magnesium, folate, zinc, calcium, and iron. They're also a stellar source of fiber (a type of carb that fills you up), promotes normal bowel movements, and lowers your risk for diseases such as diabetes. More specifically, one medium artichoke has nearly 7 grams of this key nutrient, which provides about one-third of your daily fiber needs.
